Weekly Famitsu held a special interview with Nihon Falcom President, Toshihiro Kondo. Topics about the company’s upcoming projects came up including the conclusion to Trails beyond the Horizon, a remake to The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, the next Ys game, and the new Dragon Slayer project.

Some of the important pieces of information from the interview are as follows:

  • What will be done with Trails in the Sky the 3rd is undecided, but the company would like to tackle it in some form.
  • Trails beyond the Horizon‘s concluding chapter is in planning, and they are determined to finish Horizon with the next title due to the long wait.
  • It is difficult to work on both titles (Horizon conclusion, Sky 3rd) at the same time, so the order in which they will be tackled will vary.
  • Original staff members close to retirement who worked on Trails in the Sky would like to also do remakes for Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure.
  • The next title in the Ys series has begun development, but they do not think it will be ready by the series’ 40th anniversary.
  • There are two titles that haven’t officially been announced yet.
  • The new Dragon Slayer project is being developed together with partners outside the company. They are looking for the right time and place to reveal the next update.

The information gathered is thanks to translated sections of the interview shared by Hansuke.
