Hoa Team and PM-Studios have released the first longer gameplay video for Hoa. The video provides about seven and a quarter minutes of gameplay showing off the forest area. Hoa Team’s Creative Director, Son Tra, provides commentary as she shows off parts of the lush, hand-painted forest. The main character, Hoa, must return to where it all started to uncover her own personal story. The game is set to launch sometime in April on both the Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). Here’s the new gameplay video:

In the new gameplay footage, Creative Director Son Tra comments on the design of the bouncy ivy leaf platforms. She states that they wanted to make the simple act of jumping on the platforms more enjoyable. The video also showcases some of the game’s beautiful, live-recorded soundtrack, evoking a very tranquil atmosphere.

In the first few minutes, she introduces the rhinoceros beetles. You can get them to follow you after waking them. If you run ahead too fast, they will stop following. Once you get to your destination, you can jump on the rhinoceros beetle to use it as a platform to reach a ledge that is otherwise too high to jump on. Here is the game’s announcement trailer.

Shortly thereafter, we are introduced to a robot. As with the beetles, you can jump on these guys, but enemies cannot hurt or kill you. Instead, it will knock you backwards.

Soon after this, she also introduces another creature that calls the woods home. It is a squishy looking bug called “Bouncy”. As the name implies, you can bounce off of these guys to jump high. If one is on a wall, you can bounce off of it to cross large gaps horizontally. The video ends with a short reveal of first boss in Hoa.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
