Sentai Filmworks has just announced that they’ve acquired the classic adventure series from Sunrise Studio, Aura Battler Dunbine. This anime is a 49-episode epic which was removed from the archives and remastered. CEO of Sentai Filmworks, John Ledford states, “We are extremely excited to bring this restored and remastered version of Aura Battler Dunbine to fans. The transfer is absolutely stunning and brings an incredible level of detail and vibrancy to this classic sci-fi series.”

This anime is based on the novel The Wings of Rean by Yoshiyuki Tomino, acclaimed writer and director of the Mobile Suit Gundam series. Aura Battler Dunbine contains a classic story of good versus evil and sacrifice and love, all within a rich fantasy backdrop, including powerful mechas and complex characters.

Synopsis:

Transported from his home in Tokyo, a seemingly ordinary 18-year-old Shou Zama finds himself in a new world known as Byston Well, a country that has been torn apart by overlord Drake Luft. Refusing to participate in Luft’s evil plans, Shou joins the resistance where he uses his incredible Aura Powers to fight for freedom inside a lavender-colored mecha.

Aura Battler Dunbine features voice acting from Shigeru Nakahara (known for Dragon Ball Super and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing), Mika Doi (also in One Piece in addition to Tokyo Ghoul) and Maria Kawamura (from Neon Genesis and Samurai Champloo). This new remastered collection will soon be available in select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.
