Splatoon

Nintendo has gone a little old-school with its marketing for Splatoon.

Splatoon is only two weeks away from its worldwide release, and Nintendo has released three commercials for the upcoming game.  There is an old-school vibe to this trio of commercials with a focus on gameplay alongside a rocking theme song that is primed to be used in a Splatoon Saturday morning cartoon.  Aside from showing off basic gameplay of Turf War alongside vibrant and colorful stages, the three commercials also showcase different mechanics of the game.  This includes transforming from Humanoid to Inkling, maneuvering around the terrain as a squid to evade or attack enemies, and inking up enemy territory with a variety of weapons.  It’s unique way of showing off the game with a fun, lighthearted tone.

The songs may be hit or miss for some, but I like to see Nintendo trying something different with its marketing for this game.  Splatoon is set to release for Wii U on May 29th.
