Lode Runner: Legacy

Lode Runner: Legacy

Tozai Games released a press release today to announce the launch date for Lode Runner: Legacy. Until now, all we knew is that the game was set to launch sometime during this summer. The press release revealed just how close the game is to launch. Today’s announcement from Tozai Games reveals that Lode Runner: Legacy will charge onto Steam on July 13th.

Check out the game’s trailer:

The Lode Runner series was born back in 1983 when I was just one year old. It was created by Doug Smith while he was at the University of Washington. Lode Runner not only went on to become an award-winning best seller, but also influenced gaming as a whole in a big way. Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of another famous game, Tetris, commented about Lode Runner:

“My favorite for many, many years. Every level was a real puzzle with its own mechanics, its own dynamics, its own kind of solution. … I can’t imagine any other game with such inventive and unusual design.”

Sadly, you may recall that Doug Smith passed away in 2014. In tribute to him, US Gamer editor-in-chief Jeremy Parish praised him and the Lode Runner series, saying:

“[He] created one of the most innovative formative works of the medium, a game that managed to transcend international boundaries and become a beloved classic among American PC gamers and Japanese console fanatics alike.”

Fans now have only two more weeks to wait for Lode Runner: Legacy to bring them a blast from the past! If you are interested in the game, there are a couple of places you can go for more information about it. You can find the Lode Runner: Legacy game page on Steam here. Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
