A third promotional video is up on the website for the upcoming anime adaptation of Yuu Miyazaki’s The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water light novel series, known in Japan as Gakusen Toshi Asterisk. Watch it below:

The video gives a glimpse at the main characters for the anime:

  • Ayato Amagiri: Atsushi Tamaru
  • Julis-Alexia von Riessfelt: Ai Kakuma
  • Claudia Enfield: Nao Toyama
  • Saya Sasamiya: Shiori Izawa
  • Kirin Todo: Ari Ozawa

In addition, the trailer reveals the following new additions to the cast:

  • Eishiro Yabuki: Yuuma Uchida
  • Lester MacPhail: Takanori Hoshino
  • Ernesta Kuhne: Chinatsu Akasaki
  • Camilla Pareto: Mutsumi Tamura
  • Irene Urzaiz: Yumi Uchiyama
  • Priscilla Urzaiz: Juri Nagatsuma
  • Dirk Eberwein: Tomokazu Sugita

The opening theme will be performed by Shiena Nishizawa, and the ending theme “Waiting for the Rain” will be performed by Maaya Sakamoto. A-1 Pictures will be animating the series, with Manabu Ono (Saki, The Irregular at Magic High School, A-Channel) serving as general director and Kenji Seto (Wooser no Sono Higurashi Kakusei-hen) serving as series director. Tetsuya Kawakami (Toei Robot Girls, Nanana’s Buried Treasure, Robot Girls Z) is the character designer and animation director. The music is being composed by Rasmus Faber (Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne theme songs) and produced by Flying Dog.

Yuu Miyazaki’s original Asterisk War light novel series started in 2012, with the eighth volume published by Media Factory on May 25. There is also a manga series by Ningen with two published volumes so far, plus a spin-off manga titled Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Gaiden: Queenveil no Tsubasa, written by Shou Akane.

In April, Aniplex released a summary of the story:

In the previous century, humanity was attacked by an unprecedented disaster… The impact “Invertia.” The whole world was destroyed. However, humans acquired a new potential…”The Genestella.”

The Asterisk War premieres in Japan on October 3 on Tokyo MX and Animax.
