Custom Waluigi Amiibo

Are you waiting for Nintendo to make a Waluigi amiibo? Well, it turns out that Waluigi has some very dedicated fans. This impressive custom Waluigi amiibo was created by one such fan. It was made from a Luigi amiibo, so they effectively took the Luigi figurine off its base and replaced it with a Waluigi figurine. This custom Waluigi amiibo sold in an eBay auction for $199. As you can see in the picture, they’ve even changed the back of the packaging to show Waluigi’s name. You can also see how the plastic cover still has the shape from the original Luigi amiibo.

You may be wondering, “Does it register as Waluigi when you scan it on your Wii U?” The answer is no, because it is using the base from a Luigi amiibo. Modifying the base to get it to register as Waluigi would undoubtedly be far trickier (if it’s even possible). While you can’t play as Waluigi in Super Smash Bros. 4 (much to the chagrin of some fans), you can scan this amiibo and set Luigi’s costume to use Waluigi’s colors. That costume is about as close as you’re going to get to playing as Waluigi!

Since this custom amiibo has already sold, you can’t buy it, unfortunately (unless, of course, its new owner sells it). You can still at least hope that this fan (or other fans) might make more of them in the future. There is also the possibility of Nintendo making an official Waluigi amiibo at some point down the road. If they do, would it be one of the rare ones that are strangely discontinued very early? One would hope not, but it would be anyone’s guess. Either way, this is an impressive custom amiibo created by one very dedicated fan.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
