As most of you know, I am a big fan of the VenusBlood Series. Ninetail has released two titles in this fantastic series here in the West so far and I enjoyed both of them quite a bit. So when they announced a Kickstarter for fan discs related to VenusBlood Frontier I got really excited. I was even happier when I found out these stories featured Odin and Rigret since they were my two favorite characters in Frontier. I’ve finally had a chance to dig into these and I want to share my thoughts. Let’s see just how Loki fared after winning his great battle.

VenusBlood Frontier AfterDays | Inn

There are three stories here in these VenusBlood Frontier fan discs. The two AfterDays stories follow the events of the game as if you obtained the Law ending, and the Dark Chronicle story goes down the Chaos path. These are pretty short stories, and unlike the main game there are no gameplay elements here. That said I want to discuss each one just a little bit.

VenusBlood Frontier Dark Chronicle | Big Odin

The first AfterDays story follows our favorite winter Goddess Rigret as she attempts to establish a hot springs. She wants to show Loki how much she has grown, and she is working hard for his upcoming visit. Rigret wants him to have a great time and relax a bit since he’s working hard on the world’s new laws. Will his trip end up being a pleasant one?

VenusBlood Frontier AfterDays | Odin

Odin is featured in the other AfterDays story. She has been hard at work making a Harem for Loki while he is getting his affairs in order. She wanted to create a place for him to relax while he performed all his duties as leader of this land. She also believed he needed plenty of concubines to produce many children that were capable of leading these lands in the future. Odin may have had a few other plans in the back of her mind, but you can bet Loki will have some fun with those as well.

While the Dark Chronicles story is a bit more interesting than the other two, I’m not a huge fan of the Chaos route in general. This version of events has Odin gain a ton of power, regaining her true form during the chaotic war on Yggdrasil. She then turns on Loki and they fight an epic battle for control of the world. Upon her defeat, Loki comes up with a very unique way to punish her traitorous actions.

VenusBlood Frontier AfterDays | Rigret

All of the fan disks here feature more of the fantastic artwork I’ve come to love this series for. Rigret and Odin both get amazing new costumes, and there is some spicy CG work here as well. The AfterDays stories aren’t exactly vanilla, but there is nothing too extreme in those since they do follow the Law Route. Dark Chronicles is a different story, and the H Scenes here go pretty hardcore. Again I’m more of Law Route kinda guy, but both of these are quality and series fans will certainly enjoy them.

VenusBlood Frontier | Dark Chronicle

At the end of the day if you enjoy these or not will depend on how much you enjoyed VenusBlood Frontier. If you were a huge fan like I am these are an instant buy at $4.99 each price tag. This may seem like a little much, but each one is about two hours in length with three or four quality H-Scenes. I would certainly suggest you picking up the main game and playing through at least one route before diving into these beauties. I certainly hope Ninetail considers bringing more of this amazing series West very soon.

Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.
