Super Smash Bros - Mega Man vs. Kirby

The pink, cuddly, and wildly dangerous puff ball known as Kirby has always been one of the most versatile combatants in the Super Smash Bros. series. One of the key differences between Kirby and the rest of the Super Smash Bros. community is his sucking ability which leads to him gaining his unlucky foes B-button ability. Now, with the surprise reveal of Mega Man’s long overdue entrance into the fray, a potentially awesome possibility just opened for that cuddly little ball of destruction. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it may be a while before we find out.

Super Smash Bros - Mega Man Reveal

Kirby + The Blue Bomber = The ultimate auto-KO death machine?

In a recent interview, Super Smash Bros. godfather Masahiro Sakurai wouldn’t reveal what Mega Man ability would get passed on to Kirby, he simply said “What you’re asking is still classified.” Sakurai then went on to say “As far as the physical appearance of Kirby, I think what you imagine is probably pretty close to what will actually happen”. That could be taken as a good sign, right?

Right before the interview came to its eventual close, Sakurai was asked if there was any chance that Kirby would get his own personalized mini Mega Buster. “He’s got little tiny arms, so who knows,” Sakurai stated.

So there you have it, folks. We won’t know what will become of Kirby’s Mega Man ability in Super Smash Bros. till some unpronounced date in the unforeseen future. What are all of you out there hoping will be the outcome? I personally would love to  see Mega Man’s “Shoryuken” uppercut come into play. Be sure to let us know in the comments.

  • I will laugh if Mega Man’s B attack is the hadouken (since his buster is his primary A attack)

  • Ashitaka

The Mega Buster will already charge, as we’ve seen in the trailer. It would make sense that the simple B-move will be the normal shot, and you hold B to charge, just like in the MM games, and like the other characters in SSB (Samus, Mewtwo, Lucario). It makes sense that Kirby would copy that as well.

    • BruceTD

they’ve already said that the megabuster is his normal A attack rather than punching, and that the charge shot is a smash attack

  • James Best

I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Kirby will have a Mega Man helmet on his head when he copies Mega Man. There, I’m a genius.

  • Ace

Sakurai stated that MegaMan’s charged buster blast is his charged smash attack… So the B attack must be something different. I’m guessing it’s classified because MegaMan’s B attack is probably his Wily weapons.

  • Stephen

I actually thought Mega Man would have had some copying ability of his own…it would be interesting if that was his B move…if so what then?? o.O

  • Ultimate Fiend

Did the original Megaman ever get to do the “Hadoken/Shoryuken”? I thought that was just “X”. It’d seem more fitting as a “Final Smash” if you ask me 😛

  • Why hide it?

Uh, Megaman’s B will be a charged Xbuster shot. Kirby will get that, and the helmet.

    Not complicated.

    • Jonah Rosen

Sorry for the nitpick, but Mega Man uses the Mega Buster. It’s X that uses the X Buster. (Hence ‘X’ Buster.)
