Square Enix just opened up a new website for the next game in the Final Fantasy XIII series, or “Lightning Saga” as they like to call it. But not before reminding us that Final Fantasy XIII shipped over 9.6 million copies and that Final Fantasy XIII-2 ended with the DLC pack called “Lightning’s Story: Requiem of the Goddess”.

The website explains that “key members” of the original Final Fantasy XIII development team are preparing to reveal the direction of Lightning’s story at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event in Tokyo on September 1st. You can see the website for yourself here.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.

  • For I Want Final Fantasy VS 13 More Then 13-3 I Not Goto Buy It Until VS 13 Is Out In Japan

  • Interesting.

  • I know a lot of people are already going to write it off, but give it a chance. This could be an amazing game, who’s to say.

    • Sorry man but with the incoherent story that XIII already has I just don’t see it happening…

    • I fail to see what was so incoherent about it.  And Final Fantasy XIII-2 did a lot to fix the gameplay faults of the original.  I personally like Lightning, and would love to see Square Enix conclude her story on a high note.

  • I don’t even think 13 or 13 2 are bad at all. All it comes down to is people are touchy about Final Fantasy in general. 9 Is what people expect the series to develop like and instead they have lost all the cliche’s that get people pumped. Like Job systems with the jobs everyone knows, different playable races, ultima, weapons, airships, world maps and much more. If they had just never tagged the games with Final Fantasy and called them something like The Lightning Saga by itself the series would have been a lot more popular.
