Former NIS America staff members Jack Niida, Hiroko Kanazashi, and Nao Miyazawa have formed a new independent game publishing company, acttil. The company, based in Los Angeles, California, will be seeking unique and interesting games—especially independent games—for platforms such as consoles, mobile devices, the web, and PCs. They will also offer localization (including translation, package design, and advertisement design), marketing, digital distribution, production, game feedback, and other services.
The name acttil is an acronym for its core set of values: “acceptance,” “creativity,” “teamwork,” “trust,” “innovation,” and “love.” These letters are written in lowercase to show humility. Niida, Kanazashi, and Miyazawa believe success comes from “making people smile.” To them, a “great company” is one that emphasizes its associates and makes “great connections and relationships” with people.
In addition to being a game publisher, acttil also describes itself as a digital content publisher and a “curious entity.” They will take on projects that they think are “awesome” or “interesting.”
New companies like acttil always have huge ambitions and lofty goals worth aspiring to. Coming from a good localization company like NIS America, which communicates well with others and looks out for its fans, it deserves all the support it can get. Hopefully, as the company grows, we’ll begin seeing libraries of unique games, as well as content smiles on our own faces.
