Oddworld Inhabitants and Microids are very excited that their strange adventure, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, has released today on the Nintendo Switch eShop. You can grab the game at the discounted price of $19.99 during the first week after today’s launch. After that it will return to its normal price of $29.99. The game first launched on the original Xbox back in 2001, and it will require 768mb of memory on your console according to its Switch eShop page. Here is the Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee launch trailer:

Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee stars a Gabbit by the name of Munch who must save fellow test subjects. You see, a large selection of consumer products are derived from the Gabbit species. This dark science takes place at a facility known as Vykkers Labs. Helping his fellow test subjects will allow them to aid Munch in his escape. Once out, he will team up with Abe. Munch’s main objective is to bring back his species, which is at the doorstep of extinction. Meanwhile, Abe wants to rescue his Mudoken buddies. They’ll have to work together to make it all happen, with some guidance from the Almighty Raisin of course!

Players can switch between the two characters to utilize their unique abilities. These include special psychic powers and other special abilities, as well as power-ups to aid you even more. Munch needs to collect the last remaining Gabbit eggs in Oddworld if he is to save his species from extinction. You’ll find that they have been packaged into cans of gabbiar! Oddworld Inhabitants game designer Lorne Lanning gave some comments on the game in the press release:

“As with all Oddworld games, we want our games to be fun story driven adventures that have underlying philosophical dilemmas that are relevant to our complicated world and societal views. Video Games, like other art, can be a vehicle to stimulate ideas and can be a catalyst for change in our own lives, a way to help players connect to the ironies that possibly exist in their (our) real world – and hopefully that connection leaves a longer lasting contemplative impression long after the gaming experience is done.”

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
