JAST recently released a brand new Nukige title called Overly Qualified Ms. Mary. You can tell right off the bat in which way Ms. Mary is very over qualified, so I pretty much knew what to expect when I fired this one up for the first time. After noticing the game’s .EXE file was named “Paizuri.exe” I let out a huge laugh and thought ‘These folks know their craft maybe a bit too well.’ At any rate, let’s dig in to this tale of enormous proportions and see where it leads us.

Mary Waifu

The story here follows a young woman named Mary Morgan. She is an exchange student in Japan but she’s having a little trouble making friends. The girls are jealous of her huge sweater puppies and the guys feel she is just way out of their league. One day she approaches the most popular boy in school, Shinozaki Tomoya, and she presents him with a sexual challenge. She thinks she is in charge when this starts, but as the duel continues Tomoya overtakes her, making her pass out from the pleasure. The two of them start a blossoming relationship after this, but while they are about to have some great times there could be trouble for them very soon.

Mary Boobs

The story here is very basic like you would expect from a Nukige, but I felt like it was well written. Both of the main characters have a lot of personality, and are actually sort of relatable to some folks I knew back in high school. The H-Scene writing is done very well, too. It’s erotic, but it has a playful hint that fits the story very well. Some of these scenes can go a bit long, but for this genre that’s really to be expected.

I found the music here pretty basic other than the great opening theme. It’s a very catchy tune and fit the opening movie very well. The only character voiced in the game is Mary and the voice actor does a wonderful job bringing her to life. The performance gives her a ton of character and really helps you get into the mood the story here is setting. She puts a lot of effort into the H-Scenes here, which is a great thing, but if you don’t want to share Mary’s glory with other folks in your house or the neighbor’s, a good pair of headphones is needed.

Mary Cute

A good Nukige should have some excellent CG for the H-Scenes, and Overly Qualified Ms. Mary delivers on this front. While most of the scenes here are pretty vanilla outside of a few exhibition ones, I felt like these were all very detailed and top quality. Each scene will usually have three for four different CG variations and some shots that zoom in as well. The zoomed shot would look terrible with mosaics, but thankfully JAST has done away with all those so we can enjoy this completely uncensored.

Mary Kiss

While Overly Qualified Ms. Mary is a very basic Nukige, I feel like it is a quality one. The story here is pretty plain, but Mary is a great character and the story about this unlikely couple is a very entertaining one. The soundtrack is pretty basic, but the voice acting makes up for the shortcomings in that department. The CG is where this game really shines. The art team did an amazing job creating some very erotic images for this release, and that is what separates good games in this genre from poor cash-in releases. This is pretty short at just three hours in length, but I feel like it is well worth the $14.99 price tag. This is another quality release from the folks at JAST, and if you’re a fan of this type of game you should probably snag this up ASAP.
