Kingdom of Arcadia

The new 2D, retro themed metroidvania, Kingdom of Arcadia, will be launching on an array of console systems on April 14th with a price tag of $5.99. They include the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The announcement was first made during EastAsiaSoft’s EASter Showcase earlier this month. Today’s press release included some screenshots and a trailer:

Sam was just an average kid who happens to enjoy the pastime of video games. His father does too, holding a soft spot for old school games in particular. One day when his father is not around, his curiosity gets the best of him. So of course Sam decides to give his dad’s arcade machine a try, but that’s when all hell break’s lose! He suddenly finds himself sucked into the mysterious arcade machine, where his new adventure begins. A nasty spell has been cast upon the kingdom of Arcadia, and Sam is the hero who must dispel it. Can he save Arcadia and return himself to his home world?

Players will journey through five levels, each of which contains multiple missions to complete. Luckily for Sam, he can level up and buy better gear from shops to become a more powerful hero. A plethora of enemies and giant bosses stand in his way in a pixelated world full of obstacles and traps. The journey ahead won’t be an easy one, but Sam doesn’t have any other options! Can you help Sam beat his father’s arcade game and get himself out of this crazy predicament?

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
