Not too long ago, I had something of a Kickstarter habit, and couldn’t help but finding and funding tons of promising looking adventures. One such game was Dimension Drive, a SHMUP with teleportation twists and lots of challenge by 2Awesome Studio. I reviewed it for the oprainfall site, and though it was far from perfect, I still thought it was a lot of fun, and I anticipated whatever came next. Well, turns out the game that’s up next from 2Awesome Studio is called Aeon Drive. And if you were expecting another SHMUP, think again, since Aeon Drive is a stylish looking platformer!
In this sequel, you’ll still control Jack as she looks for answers and fights for justice. Now the game has a sexy cyberpunk aesthetic, and it incorporates speedrunning elements. It will have players racing against the clock and manipulating the flow of time to their advantage. If that sounds interesting, you’ll be happy to hear that the game is slated to come to PC and consoles this Summer. But if you don’t want to wait that long, Aeon Drive will soon have a free alpha available via their Discord.
I’m thoroughly intrigued by the premise of 2Awesome Studio’s newest project. If anything, it looks cool and has even better art than the first game. If you’re still not convinced, read the full press blast below and be sure to watch the snazzy Aeon Drive trailer!
About Aeon Drive
Aeon Drive is an action platformer game set in a cyberpunk version of Barcelona. The player controls Jack, a stranded space pilot on a quest to retrieve faulty pieces of dimension-bending machinery in order to preserve the space-time fabric of the universe. Jack will have to overcome a myriad obstacles using her sword, her teleportation dagger, and her unique skill to control time.
