In an announcement made on their website Kenichi Sato, CEO of Platinum Games, has revealed that they received a capital investment from Tencent Holdings Limited as a basis for a partnership. He goes on to explain that this partnership will have no effect on the independence of the company and that their current corporate structure will not change either. They hope to use this capital to strengthen their foundation as a business and explore the possibility of self-publishing.
Platinum Games currently has two major titles in development: Bayonetta 3 for the Switch and published by Nintendo, and Babylon’s Fall for PS4 and PC published by Square Enix. The release date on both of these games hasn’t been announced at this time.
