oprainfall | Atelier Lulua - The Scion of Arland

The folks at Koei Tecmo and Gust have revealed new details about Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. New characters were introduced to the world, and they also released details on Alchemy Riddle, which has letters that can only be read by Lulua.

As you decipher the Alchemy Riddle, the story will progress and you will discover new collection places, as well as learn new recipes and skills. The riddle involves mysterious red keywords in the text. As you reveal them, the Alchemy Riddle will update, giving you access to new information, including new recipes and the next necessary objective to further the story. The reward for doing so is also written on each page, and you can decipher the pages of your choosing and at your own pace.

A handful of new characters were also unveiled for Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. They showed 3D models for all characters, and concept art for some of them. Here is the flavor text and some images for each of them:

Rorolina Frixell (Rorona)

Occupation:  Alchemist

Voice Actor:  Mai Kadowaki

An alchemist who possesses some the greatest abilities in Arland. However, since she understands alchemy through her own confusing theory, she is not good at teaching others. Her work moves her from place to place, so she is never around at important times. Her passion for pie has not weakened, and even now she works hard in order to make a more delicious and unusual pie every day.

Fickes Finis

Occupation:  Magician

Voice Actor:  Wataru Hatano

A mysterious magician with an easygoing atmosphere. He jokes and tends to talk like someone who speaks in riddles, and people say he looks suspicious. He loves the magic tricks that he does for a living, and not even experts are able to see through his tricks. He is kind to children and the youth, and seems to take a keen interest in Lulua’s growth.

Nicodemus David Dieter (Nico)

Occupation:  Formerly a pirate

Voice Actor:  Yoshitsugu Matsuoka

A sailor who was famous in the Arland region’s sea ports as “Nico, Crosser of the Stormy Seas,” but a “certain someone” destroyed his beloved ship, and he is currently taking on requests as an adventurer while earning repair expenses. He has a lively and rough personality, and is the type who is big‐hearted on one hand, but does not think things through very deeply on the other.

Lionela Heinze

Occupation:  Bar Owner

Voice Actor:  Kei Shindou

A woman who runs the Arland bar Arahoro Pavilion. She was once a shy and timid person, but after meeting Rorona and traveling all over, she grew to have a sociable personality. She established Arahoro Pavilion to create a place where you can spend time peacefully no matter the circumstances.

Michael Fontanini
Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
