After five years in development, series director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III is officially complete. In serendipitous timing, a new “Together” trailer was uploaded, showcasing the myriad of Disney worlds you’ll be visiting in the final game when it launches this January.
It’s been 13 years since the last proper entry, Kingdom Hearts II, arrived to consoles on the PlayStation 2, and five years since Kingdom Hearts III was officially revealed at E3 2013. The third numbered chapter in the long-running Kingdom Hearts saga introduces multiple new kingdoms to visit, including ones based on the films Tangled, Big Hero 6, Toy Story, and Frozen to name a few.
Kingdom Hearts III launches on PS4 and Xbox One on January 29th, 2018. In the interim, those who wish to catch up with the series can pick up the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 and 2.8 collections on PS4.
