The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls | base kit

Guys, by now you should know that I’m a somewhat big fan of The Binding of Isaac. I got into it late, and it grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and dragged me into the black hole of madness, and I never want to leave the basement ever again. So when I saw the words Binding of Isaac followed by Kickstarter, I did a double take. Yes, Ed McMillen is working on a Binding of Isaac card game, and it’s already been funded 100% on Kickstarter after a little more than 1 hour. Keep reading to see some of the details, and why you might be interested in checking it out.

The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls | characters

If the subtitle of the project didn’t make it clear, Four Souls is both a reference to the game as well as an indication of how many players you’ll need. Players look to take control of one of 4 distinct characters with different strengths – Isaac, who can reroll dice; Cain, who can modify other player’s decks; Maggie, who just like in the video game can heal; and Judas, who can screw up your dice rolls. Besides them, the game features terrifying yet adorable animated cards for a variety of creatures from the game, ranging from bosses like Bloat to the Judgment card to even pets like Dark Bum.

The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls | tiers

Not enough? There are also different tiers you can pledge at, which reward you with more goodies such as expansion packs and even things like T-shirts and collectible figures! Also nice is that since the game is already funded one day in, everything extra for the next 29 days or so goes towards mysterious stretch goals (the first one culminates in “someone hairy” and “the Caves”). I know I’m certainly intrigued by the project thus far, despite not playing many card games these days. If you want to read more about the project, just check out the official Kickstarter page.
