Metroid Prime 4

More details about the Nintendo World Championships for 2017 have emerged as its October 7th date fast approaches. It has been confirmed that Metroid: Samus Returns will be one of the several games in the finals that 24 players will compete in. Hosting the festivities are games personality Andrea Renea and sportscaster Jordan Kent.

The players traveling to New York this October include the 16 who qualified at participating Best Buys in August (except for Miami, whose event was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma), as well as 8 invitees from the US, Canada, and Mexico whose talents range from speed runners to tournament players. Smash Bros. professional Asa Butterfield and WWE Superstar Baylee will be in attendance.

For those not able to reach New York City for the Championship finals, they will be broadcast live online at 5 PM Eastern on October 5th. Those already within the city (the event also coincides with New York Comic Con 2017), a limited number of free tickets will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day of the event, located at the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom.
