I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I took on Dungeon of Corruption for review. I missed out on playing Hentai Industries previous title, Orc Castle, so I thought this would give me a chance to see what these game were all about. Did I find a new type of Eroge game I really love or just another run of the mill time waster? Let’s find out!

Our story (what little there is here) takes place on a small island continent called Valbella. There are several small kingdoms and city states here with a turbulent past. In each of the kingdoms, there are ruins and remnants built from technology from the Gods. These ruins contain sacred treasures that would make any nation’s military much stronger. The lords of the kingdoms work hard to find these items to sway the wars in their favor. They send specially trained soldiers to seek out these treasures. Soon the people of these lands started worshipping these treasures as Gods themselves. The kingdoms soon merged one by one under two new main religions, those of the God of Light and those of the God of Darkness. Many years passed since these two Gods revealed themselves, and they feel a war is upon them once again. To prevent this war they propose a contest to see which of their followers has the most passion. Thus they send their two best apostles, Griselda of the Dark and Eliska of the Light to face trials made to test each other’s faith. Which one will survive the monsters that lurk in this dungeon of trails? Only time will tell!

Dungeon of Corruption | Gameplay

This is pretty much the only story this game has to offer. It’s as paper thin as it gets, but honestly, you’re probably picking this one up to enjoy the game CGs and puzzle mechanics, rather than looking for a deep fulfilling story line. Though I will say on the positive side that the voice work is actually pretty good, even though a lot of it is the girls moaning through some of the crazy things that happen to them during this dungeon crawl, if you get what I mean here.

Dungeon of Corruption | Eliska

This game plays like a puzzle game. The girls will move in a set pattern on the dungeon floor and you will lay out traps to lead them to your monsters. Eliska will always move along the right-hand wall, while Griselda will move along the left-hand wall, but you can use traps to change the direction. Since the girls are wearing divine armor that protects them from the monsters doing naughty things to them, you will have to combo your traps to destroy its divinity and break said armor.  The bigger you combo, the more damage you do to Apostle’s divinity. This means you can summon rows of slippery slime to slide the girls into the waiting grip of your summoned monster, slide them into waiting catapults to shoot them across the screen to a waiting creature, or even summon warp portals to get them to normally unreachable places on the dungeon floor. There are lots of possibles.

Summoning these traps will require some strategy. You have a limited amount of MP at your disposal, so you can only lay out so many traps at a time. This MP will regenerate over time, but if you don’t plan ahead you may end up not getting your desired result. Traps do not instantly appear: it will take a few turns for them to fully form, and if an Apostle steps on one before it is fully summoned it will be destroyed. The more times you completely break the girls’ divinity, the more monsters you unlock for you to summon. This will earn you different CG scenes as the girls end up in bad situations with the monsters. This artwork is pretty high quality, aside from a few issues with poses here and there. There are around 50 different CG scenes to unlock and each will have some slight variations.

Dungeon of Corruption | Griselda

To be completely honest here I found the mechanics of this game strangely addicting. I’m not usually one for this kind of eroge, but laying out crazy traps just to see how many times you could shoot the Apostles before having them hit a monster ready to have its way with them was enjoyable. I played this one about 10 hours or so and got most of the CG scenes unlocked, so I feel like for a $12.95 price tag, if this is your kink, or if you like puzzle games with some quality hentai, you should probably give this one a go.
