Zelda on Switch

The Nintendo Switch is in the hands of various game and tech websites around the world, and we’re finally learning more about the newest Nintendo system. One question many have had about the Switch since its announcement is how the long the system’s battery life will hold up. Nintendo has given it’s own estimation of two-and-a-half to over six hours, while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is cited to last at a maximum of three hours. Gamexplain has decided to take things even further by testing Breath of the Wild with the Switch in portable mode at maximum settings including brightness, volume and wi-fi on. The result just barely reaches Nintendo’s own estimations, but check out the video below for more specific details.

That’s a pretty good battery life for a heavy game like Zelda.

    • Panpopo

I agree. I love my vita and 3ds but they don’t last that long either. Also, with 720p up close that must look great – the Vita already looks good at its specs so am really interested in seeing the switch up close.

If you’re getting 2 and a half on those systems then something’s not right.

    • Panpopo

I believe you misunderstood. I did not specifically say that the 3ds or Vita has 2.5 hour battery life.

Anyway, I prefer to make judgments when the system in my hands, but am optimistic about it.

  • Firion Hope

That’s pretty pathetic, vita and 3ds battery life are already ridiculously short, there are phones and tablets that have longer batteries when gaming. And why on earth is there no quick charge?

    • chris

Let’s port Breath of the Wild to an Ipad and see how long the battery lasts(if the game can even run)

    • Firion Hope

I’d be interested to see how the Shield K1 or something similar handled it

    • Jeremy Barnes

Developers aren’t making a game of that scope for an ipad..maybe it will be better when the switch is actually a finished system? Or maybe the “New” Switch or “Switchier” will have better battery life.

Tablets yea but I can’t think of a single phone that has a longer battery life under load
