Fuji TV recently held a livestream event and revealed that the second season of Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) would air in 2017. The second season will premiere on the noitamina programming block in April 2017.

The second season for the anime will be called Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata (Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata Flat). It will be produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Kanta Kamei.

The Saekano light novels are written by Fumiaki Maruto and illustrated by Kurehito Misaki. They are published by Fujimi Shobo under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. It first began publication in July 2012 and currently has 9 volumes released.

The Saekano anime’s first season ran from January 2015 to March 2015. The first season ran for 12 episodes and was produced by A-1 Pictures. It is licensed for release in North America by Aniplex of America.

A synopsis for the first season is provided by ANN:

Tomoya Aki is an otaku who has a dream. His dream is to create the best visual novel game ever. The main heroine for this game and the inspiration for this dream is a background character named Megumi Kato who somehow stumbles into main character-esque traits in his eyes. To complete the game in time he has to call upon the aid of his anime loving professional friends who aren’t so keen on the choice of his main heroine.
