With the December 10 release of Steins; Gate 0 coming ever closer, 5pb has taken to giving us a little bit more hype by releasing a countdown timer that is set to end in about four days. It will end over a week before the release of the game, so there is a deeper mystery as to what the timer will reveal. Fans of the visual novel will recognize the timer as being reminiscent of the divergence meter from the first story, which signified how far from the original timeline Okabe had traveled.

Also worth noting is the background picture of Mayuri slapping Okabe. The first game centered very prominently on their fraternal relationship (as opposed to the openly romantic one with Kurisu) and Okabe’s undying loyalty to his childhood friend. It’s a good teaser, easily making fans curious to see what could make Mayuri react violently against Okabe.

Steins; Gate 0 releases in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on December 10. No word on an American release, but the success of the original in America makes it very possible.
