This week seems to be as good as any to check out another SEGA console from the past. While the Dreamcast wasn’t highly though of at the time, over the years, fans have looked back fondly at the system. It may not have had the commercial success as its competition, but it did have its fair share of quality games.
Ultimately, it couldn’t compete with Nintendo’s Gamecube and Sony’s PlayStation 2, leading to it’s early discontinuation in 2001, and SEGA pulling out of the home console market. Personally, I think the weird controller has something to do with it. And people say the Wii U GamePad looks awkward.
So, enjoy these old TV advertisements for the SEGA Dreamcast dug up by the oprainfall Retro Commercial Research Team–in other words, me.
