Persona 5

Persona 5 Protagonist

While Atlus has been releasing great games to us this year, its hard to not notice the absence of information regarding Persona 5 since it was first revealed to us months ago. This has led to speculation the game is going to be delayed to 2016 for North America as even the game’s release in Japan is up in the air. In an interview with God Is A Geek, Atlus USA’s John Hardin had the following statement regarding Persona 5’s release and in response to some circulated listings showing Square-Enix as the publisher for the game:

“That’s just completely wrong. A lot of people assume that this is correct because they published something back in what, 2008? It just isn’t true. I’m working on getting those incorrect listing removed. We are trying to get publishers locked in for our titles in EU and will announce things when they are locked in. We don’t want another Shin Megami Tensei IV or Devil Survivor Overclocked situation. We are very aware of what happens when we make premature announcements for Europe. At least I am. The only thing I can confirm for Persona 5 is 2015.”

Currently, Atlus plans to release Persona 5 this year and will do eveything it can to keep the release date intact. I have a feeling they may be forced to eventually delay the game as they have yet to confirm a release month for the game. Only time will tell if we are getting closer to playing Persona 5 in our PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles.

What are your thoughts to Atlus’s latest statement regarding Persona 5’s release? Do you believe we are going to get the game in 2015 or in 2016? Share us your thoughts below.
