UPDATE: It has been reported that the image below is not a tease for Metal Gear Rising 2. Game commentator and Producer of the Game Awards Geoff Keighley has tweeted that the image has nothing to do with a supposed sequel.

It should be noted that @Ken1555 is Ken-ichiro Imaizumi, a Senior Producer at Kojima Productions. He didn’t know what is was either but tweeted a response as to what the number might have been.

So, does this mean that a Metal Gear Rising 2 isn’t coming? Well, it might just mean that it’s not coming as quickly as fans might hope. It’s possible that it’s in the works but just very early on, since all resources at Kojima Productions and Konami seem to be funneled right now towards MGSV: The Phantom Pain. It should also be noted that there was a lot of deception with The Phantom Pain when it was first revealed.

If a Metal Gear Rising 2 does in fact appear, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Metal Gear Rising 2 Teaser | oprainfall

It seems as though fans of the fantastic lovechild of Hideo Kojima and Platinum Games, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, may have cause to celebrate, as a trailer during the Taipei Game Show appears to have teased a sequel to the 2013 action title.

The teaser was revealed during a PlayStation 4 lineup video at the show. It’s only shown for a split second, but eagle-eyed viewers can see a Number 2 flashed between scenes of upcoming titles The Order 1866 and Batman: Arkham Knight. It might seem like a stretch, but, comparing the font of the number with that of the original game’s title card, there is a distinct similarity.

See for yourself on the Twitch channel linking the feed. The teaser can be seen at 2:46:39.

While Revengeance had a fairly confined storyline, it certainly did leave an opening for a sequel. What do you think? Is this just wild speculation, or are you ready for another round of Lightning Bolt Action? Let us know in the comments.
