oprainfall is proud to present our annual lists of Most Anticipated Games. Unlike previous years, we will be spreading out our lists over multiple days this year as we move closer to 2015. Today, we have Reviewer Justin Guillou.

Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015

2014 was AWESOME! So many wonderful things have happened to me this year and I had plenty of great video games to spend my time playing. Astebreed, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Danganronpa 2, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Walking Dead, Super Smash Bros. the list goes on…I could easily write another article on why this was such a strong year for video games.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, like this year. As we stock up on champagne and party poppers to prepare for the new year, we have to ask ourselves what is going on in 2015? What is it that we are going to welcome? For this article, I will share with you the five games I am prepping my wallet for. Here it is… *cue drumroll*

JUSTIN’S MOST ANTICIPATED GAMES OF 2015!!!!!

E3 2014: Nintendo - Splatoon | Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Splatoon – Whenever Nintendo announces a new IP, they generally have my attention. This game really caught my eye in that it seems to be a great example of what Nintendo can do. It’s so bright and colorful and seems to take a basic concept and introduce new ideas to expand on it, creating a unique experience. This is a third person shooter, but instead of shooting bullets you are shooting paint. In the trailer, the paint seems to be more than just your way of attacking enemies. It actually alters the playing field by not only adding color to it, but allowing you to swim and travel across the paint being laid down. If Splatoon comes out and turns out to be a disappointing mess of a game, I will still give Nintendo props for at least trying something new and interesting.

 Persona 5 | Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Persona 5 –  Words cannot express how excited I am for this game. So much so that I will be buying a PlayStation 4 console just for this game. I have spent hundreds of hours between Persona 3 and 4, so if this game is even half as good as those two games, it will be more than worth it. We do not know too much about it as of right now, but I am sure Atlus will do a great job. They got the basic mechanics down in the previous two games, they just need to expand on it. Other than obviously enhancing the visuals, I hope they:

  • Bring back the randomized dungeons from P3
  • Add more to the dating aspects
  • Possibly even bring back the conversation system when fighting the shadows

Maybe there will be a Persona 4 Dancing All Night style mini game! I certainly hope so since I am also look forward to that game as well. I mean c’mon, Project Diva style gameplay with Shoji Meguro’s music? SIGN ME UP.

What’s that you say? I cheated and squeezed two games into this entry? SHHHH!

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Spinning | Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Xenoblade Chronicles X – This game…this game…this FREAKING GAME!!!!!! Xenoblade Chronicles X is taking Xenoblade Chronicles, which is in my eyes one of the most interesting JRPGs out there, and making it BIGGER. They are making this new one bigger, better and giving the player the ability to ride in giant mecha. What more could I ask for? Nintendo if you make a special edition for this, my wallet will be yours. I plan on spending many nights playing this, so bye-bye social life and hello more Xenoblade!

Mighty No. 9 - Freeze | Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Mighty No. 9 – Inafune is trying to keep the Mega Man spirit alive through Mighty No. 9. This cute little platformer was crowdfunded like crazy last year and improvements are still being made to it as we speak. Hopefully, it is worth the wait. The graphical style reminds me of Mega Man Powered Up, X8 and Maverick Hunter X. In my eyes this is a good thing because I like those games quite a bit. Perhaps in the future I will rev…Nah, I don’t feel like it. In any case, I am curious to see how this game stacks up to the Mega Man games we all know and love. Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mighty Gunvolt were both very solid and are well worth checking out for a taste of what potential this game could have. Heck, you can play as the main character Beck in Mighty Gunvolt! Its like a demo without being a demo.

Star Fox Wii U | Justin's Most Anticipated Games of 2015
Star Fox Wii U – I love Star Fox. Those games are just too fun and quirky to not be enjoyable. After hearing Miyamoto’s commentary on the game so far, he has me very excited for it. Just imagine an Area 6 or Orbital Gate like level in HD on the Wii U. I also hope they allow for branching paths in the storyline like in the older ones. But all I ask for is some gorgeous scenery, tight controls, and levels that have a lot going on and plenty of hidden bonuses. For now, I just have the alternate outfit in Bayonetta 2 to tide me over until this releases.
