Cucco - Hyrule Warriors

While Hyrule Warriors comes out tomorrow, this hasn’t stopped Nintendo from releasing one last trailer. While earlier trailers have focused on such pathetic characters as Ganondorf, Midna, Sheik, or Ghirahim, this trailer featured the most terrifying and powerful character of all: the almighty Cucco!

For those who don’t know, Cuccos are effectively the Zelda universe’s counterparts of our Earth chickens. Unlike our Earth chicken though, Cuccos have a special property that most Zelda fans will know all too well: they will not take your crap. Attack one too many times, and it will straight-up murder you. Upon being attacked too much, a Cucco will turn violent and summon a squadron of bloodthirsty, invulnerable Cuccos that will fly around the screen, repeatedly attacking Link until he either dies, or leaves the area. Fans have aptly named this assault the Cucco’s Revenge Squad.

The trailer confirms that this behavior will carry over to Hyrule Warriors, only this time you can direct their unholy fury towards your enemies as well. When summoned initially, they will attack enemies and generally help out in battle, but if you attack them one too many times, a horde will appear and attack your character en masse. Unlike in most Zelda games, this time you can fight back, attacking the Cuccos like you would any other enemy. Defeat too many though and a giant golden Cucco will appear and attack.

So, what do you all think of this? Does it get you even more excited for the release of Hyrule Warriors tomorrow? Are you happy to see that the Cuccos will be making an appearance, or are you filled with dread at their return? Let us know in the comments below.
