It’s dangerous to go alone!  Take this!

According to the Japanese Nintendo website, the first DLC for Hyrule Warriors has just launched in Japan. It is a free and updates the game to version 1.2. The update includes a new mode, new weapon, new options, and many bug fixes. First of all, as you can see in the screenshot above, this update adds an old-school, 8-bit sword and shield for Link to wield on the fields of battle. But that’s not all! This update also adds a brand new challenge mode to the game.

Beyond the new weapon and the new challenge mode, the 1.2 update also adds a new background music selection option that allows you to select what music will play during the ensuing battle!

Nintendo of Europe has confirmed on their twitter account that this free DLC is coming to Europe as well. Thankfully, Nintendo has also confirmed that this update will be a day-one release in North America. For the time being, those of us outside of Japan still have some waiting left to do before we can finally get our hands on this game, but in the meantime Hyrule Warriors seems to keep getting better. The calendar at least is finally in the same month that the game comes out, and this game promises to be more than worth the long, painful wait, so hang in there!  Just a few more weeks to go!

Michael is a veteran gamer in his late 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES, SNES, and N64 among others. He loves Nintendo, but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks/bike rides, loves animals, and enjoys thunderstorms (and science in general). I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
