Shantae and Beck high five

Shantae and Beck high five

This picture may be a bit misleading, but there is a reason why Shantae and Beck are high-fiving. Recently, a Kickstarter was started for the latest game in the Shantae series, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. As of this writing, 8,115 people have backed this project and have pledged $323,708 (USD) out of a $400,000 goal. As you can see, the game is really close to being fully funded. However, the developer released an update today stating that Inti Creates will be working on the game, as well.

For those of you who are unaware of who they are, Inti Creates (インティ・クリエイツ) developed some of the later titles in the Mega Man series, such as Mega Man 9 and 10. They are also responsible for the entire Mega Man Zero series and the often overlooked Mega Man ZX series. Members from Inti Creates will be working on the recently funded Mighty No. 9, so the picture you see above was drawn to celebrate this announcement. The update also includes some artwork by Makoto “KOU” Yabe of Inti Creates for us to enjoy:

You can fund Shantae: Half-Genie Hero until October 4th, so if you have not already done so and are interested in this game, go pledge! For those of you who are new to the Shantae series, these games are 2D side-scrolling action-adventure games that combine elements from The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania and Metroid. There are even elements from rhythm games thrown in there. If you have a Nintendo 3DS, you have access to the entire Shantae series up to this point on the 3DS eShop.

If you are interested in some of the games Inti Creates has worked on, Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent are available for the Nintendo DS, along with the entire Zero series via the Mega Man Zero Collection. The Kickstarter for Shantae started less than a week after the one for Mighty No. 9, and now we find out Inti Creates is working on both&hellip Coincidence?
