The official Japanese Monster Hunter 4 website has updated with a number of new screenshots! Some show off the new volcanic area, but a lot depict some of the new monsters to be appearing in the game. So let’s take a look!
First we’ll take a look at a couple of the new areas. Most of these screenshots are in Monster Hunter 4’s equivalent of the Volcano, so make sure you pack your cool drinks! These new areas look really cool, and you can see the hunter climbing around the rocks in one of the images.
Next we have the mighty flying wyvern, the Gravios, which has been around since the very first Monster Hunter.
And now we have a similar-looking wyvern that lives in a forested area, which is in fact the juvenile of the Gravios, the Basarios. The first image shows it shooting out posion.
This bird wyvern is known as the Iodrome, and is capable of both poisoning and pinning the hunter.
To end on an awesome note, here we have the elder dragon Teostra, making a return from the second generation of Monster Hunter games. It reminds me of a chimera, and I’m really looking forward to fighting it.
No Western release date has been announced yet, but Monster Hunter 4 will release in Japan on the 14th of September. Here’s hoping to a localisation announcement some time soon!
