Hardware Sales

3DS 39.872
PS3 10.394
PS Vita 9.733
Wii U 6.330
PSP 5.076
Wii 1.060
Xbox 360 432

Another stagnant week in the Media Create charts as hardware takes another dip in overall sales. However, even with this dip, there is still something of note. The Vita, which has sold over 200,000 more units compared to last year (Remember: the Vita came out in Japan in December 2011, so it has been a full 23 weeks for both years), is closing in on 500,000 sold for the year. While that might not seem like much compared to the 3DS’ running tally of 1.8 million sold so far, it is a step in the right direction for Sony’s new flagship handheld.

On the software side of things, there isn’t really much to talk about. Tomodachi/Friend Collection: New Life is still in first, Animal Crossing: New Leaf is reaching saturation, Valhalla Knights 3 looks to be on track for VK2 numbers, and the only new game is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition — which is much better on PC. There is one thing to note. Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission, a card based battle game based in the Dragon Ball universe, has reached 200,000 units sold in Japan. While a localization is still unknown (and could be possible with the large fanbase that Dragon Ball has), it would be interesting to see this game come over.

Unfortunately, for the near future, I don’t see a jump happening before the middle of July. However, it’s possible that there are games coming out for all consoles that we don’t know about, will sell well, and cause a return of the strong sales numbers we love to see. Whenever they come, it’ll be nice to see those numbers return.
