Mighty No. 9 started and ended funding with a bang, finishing with $4,031,408 (USD) raised—with the first and last 24 hours seeing nearly $600,000 each. So, with the game reaching about 450% of the initial goal and all stretch goals being reached, what can we expect from this game?
Well, let’s start for where you can play it. Mighty No. 9 will be coming to pretty much EVERYTHING! The game was originally planned for Windows but has been expanded via stretch goals to include Linux, Mac, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and 3DS.
Nearly half a dozen stages will be added to the already planned 6, each with their own boss. First, there will be an introductory stage that starts off the game before even facing off against the mighty bosses as a way to ease players into the game. Following that will be 8 main stages with Mighty Nos. 1-8 as the bosses. After the stages, there will be an end stage with a final boss that is promised to be “intense”. In addition, Call, the heroine in Mighty No. 9, will be getting her own stage, complete with a boss fight. There will also be a sidekick character that will help you during your playthrough.
In addition to the stages, Mighty No. 9 will have a number of different modes you can play through. First things first, there will be a New Game Plus mode with “a more challenging second quest version”. You will also be given a Turbo mode to play the game at a faster speed. A Boss Rush Mode will be available to those that complete the main game. In addition, Challenge Modes will allow for mini-missions to test your gaming skills, including an online co-op mode for you and a friend to play together. You can also compete with friends online in a battle mode as you race to the end of modified single player stages.
In addition to the gameplay additions to the game, Mighty No. 9 will include an optional retro-inspired chiptune soundtrack and sound effects. Also, there will be a video documentary showing the behind the scenes development of Mighty No. 9, produced by 2 Player Productions.
So, that is all she wrote for the Kickstarter campaign of Mighty No. 9. Paypal donations (http://mightyno9 NULL.com/paypal/) are still being accepted with a $20 donation netting you a digital copy of the game. We’ll be sure to update you on any news that comes up for this game.
