Spike Chunsoft has just announced that Zanki Zero: Last Beginning will be receiving changes during its localization. The game is set to launch on April 9th 2019 for PS4 and Steam. First of all, they’ve stated that the Japanese swimsuit DLC will be included in the game, the first difficulty level (only the first) will be lowered for players who want to focus on the story and puzzle solving, there will be both an English dub and the original Japanese to choose from, and there will be overall UI improvements and game balancing.

Next, Spike Chunsoft states there will be censorship in the West to reduce the amount of anything that could be interpreted as the sexualization of minors. Aside from the PS4 art changes, they state these changes will be in both the PS4 and Steam versions of the game.

  • PlayStation®4 Packaging art

    • In order to conform to public storefront display standards, images that can be interpreted as too sexually provocative must be modified.
  • Sachika Bedroom Scene CGIs

    • In the Japanese release, Sachika’s panties are visible. In the Western release, Sachika is wearing pajama bottoms.
  • Sachika CGI in the Opening Scene

    • In the Japanese release, Sachika’s panties are visible. In the Western release, the camera angle has been raised to not show Sachika’s panties.
  • Child Rinko Extend Machine CGI

    • In the Japanese release, Child Rinko covers her chest with her arms. In the Western release, the position of her arms has been adjusted.
  • All “Child” bedtime event cutscenes removed
