Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy VI will be releasing on PC via Steam on December 16, 2015. It will be joining Final Fantasy III, IV, V, VII, VIII, XIV and the Lightning trilogy on the service.
Along with the announcement, Square Enix had this to say about the legendary JRPG:
Play all the main characters as the game’s protagonist, in this epic story intertwining each of their fates in a highly rated and wildly popular RPG classic.
With plenty of abilities available and the magicite system for controlling spells/summoning, players can develop their characters any way they want.
- Graphics have been painstakingly recreated by veteran character designer Kazuko Shibuya, bringing the world of FINAL FANTASY VI to your PC for the very first time!
- Updated controls and active-time battle system are optimized for fluid combat for PC
- Includes Steam achievements and Trading cards.

The Steam version of the game appears to be most similar to, if not the same as, the version released on iOS and Android in 2014, in terms of both the visual style and the interface.
