READERS’ GAME OF THE YEAR

Previous Winner
2013: Fire Emblem: Awakening

Ladies and gentlemen, we had a weird voting round. We had a number of highly thought of games that made the finals and looked like they could be possible contenders for the award.

But no one showed up to vote for them.

But we did get votes in for the final round. And they came for two games that looked unlikely to win. But they ended up breaking away from the pack and battle for the top game.

So how did it shake down? We reveal it now, going from 10th to 1st.

Mario Kart 8 - Mercedes-Benz DLC

  • 10. Mario Kart 8 (1% of the vote)

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

  • 8. (TIE) Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth (1%, 2 votes ahead of MK8)

Super Smash Bros. 3DS - brawl

Hyrule Warriors

  • 7. Hyrule Warriors (2%)

Shovel Knight Bubbles

  • 6. Shovel Knight (2%, 1 vote ahead of Hyrule Warriors)

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

  • 5. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (7%)

Bravely Default Feature

  • 4. Bravely Default (7%, 2 votes ahead of SSB Wii U)

Bayonetta 2

  • 3. Bayonetta 2 (8%)

Slinki

  • 2. Slinki (33%)

AND THE WINNER, WITH 37% SUPPORT, THE 2014 OPRAINFALL READERS’ GAME OF THE YEAR IS…

Chronicles of a Dark Lord Ep.2 - Readers' Game of the Year

Chronicles of a Dark Lord – Episode II: War of the Abyss

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the equivalent of a 16 seed beating a top seed in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. It’s like the Miracle on Ice. It’s like if I knocked out Mike Tyson in his prime. It’s like if Riki decided to take on Zanza single handed in Xenoblade (apologies if you just got spoiled by that line). Congrats to developer Kisareth Studios.

Disagree with the choice? Well, you should’ve voted. Remember the popular saying from elections: if you don’t vote, you can’t complain.

That is all for today. Join us tomorrow as we wrap up the awards with console day and reveal our choice for Game of the Year. See you then.
