Halfway There 20,000 and Under Flexible Funding Goal Reached

GOAL 20,000 AND UNDER

Combat Core

  • Goal: $20,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Ouya

From the Kickstarter page:

Combat Core is a 3D arena fighting game that borrows elements from games like Power Stone, Custom Robo, and Super Smash Bros. Hyper-powered multiplayer combat with custom fighters, weapon pickups, powerups, and environmental hazards! The game is currently in development for PC, Mac, and Ouya.

My most memorable gaming experiences are competitive couch-multiplayer games on the NES, SNES, N64, Playstation, and Dreamcast with my friends and family. I designed the mechanics of Combat Core to bring back the glory of fast paced, intuitive, fun, and competitive multiplayer.

Players can battle from 1v1 up to 4-player battle royale or team modes. Players can choose from original characters, or create their own combatants with varying stats, attacks, skills, unique appearance, and a power core to grant special attacks and stats boosts.

You can also help this project by supporting the game on Steam Greenlight. You can also download the alpha demo from the Kickstarter page.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Gibland

Gibland

  • Goal: £5,000
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

We started this project 5 months ago with the aim to make the game we have always wanted to play and no real experience of making a game before. We have got much further than I ever imagined possible and now would like to share the game with everybody else! Unfortunately there are a few things standing in the way which is why we are here.

Heavily inspired by Dwarf Fortress/Age of Empires/Terraria/Dungeon Keeper Gibland is basically a Sandbox/RTS. You enter a hostile world with a few giblets (Characters) and begin to build your city/fortress with the aim to eventually reach hell and defeat the boss.

To give you a taste of the game I have uploaded a copy of the current version at our forums www.thegibland.com/forum. It is heavily bugged and multiplayer isn’t finished yet. Even if you don’t wish to fund the project, singing up and giving your input would be highly appreciated!

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Hurricane Paisley
Concept Art

Hurricane Paisley

  • Goal: $3,000 AUD
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

Hurricane Paisley has been a pet project of mine for over 4 years. It emerged from two characters I created to be my alter egos and bloomed into a story of love, devotion and courage. Cross-Archer Studios is me, myself and I for the most part, with a little help from my programming friends. Hurricane Paisley was due to be released last year, but failed due to lack of funding and I could not complete the project. This is why I appeal to the kickstarter community, so that we might make Hurricane Paisley become a truly successful visual novel. Hurricane Paisley is an anime-style visual novel, which will feature an in-depth storyline, great characters and beautiful cinematic artworks.

The player becomes Paisley, a young woman who is looking for her twin sister Reyna. Reyna was kidnapped by an evil villain called Zephyr and his buxom accomplice Rubis and is planning to use Reyna for sinister purposes. With energetic, ladies’ man Zayes to aid in the rescue, Paisley has to find her sister, and discover things about herself and the land of Florana that she would never have dreamed of. There are some mild sexual references within the game but no explicit content or scenes.

You can try out the game by checking out the demo linked on the Kickstarter page.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: RatRun

RatRun

  • Goal: €3,500
  • Platforms: iOS, Android

From the Indiegogo page:

RatRun is an endless-runner Smartphone game, developed fully with HTML5 canvas. We aim to release for iOS and Android (Windows and other platforms may be added later). You control a little rat called “Randy” and run through three beautiful worlds to solve over 100 missions. You can also collect a bunch of “over all” achievements with claiming increments or hunt for special medals and trophies in every world. Lovely graphics and gorgeous animations combined with a lot of features and possibilities will guarantee a lot of fun and amusing gameplay for days. The game will be available in at least 3 languages (English, German, French), more Languages will be added in the future.

The Storyline is very simple and easy to understand. The friends of our main character “Randy” got kidnapped by a bad snake and its allegiance. You help Randy rescue his friends by completing missions and unlock new worlds by fighting against evil bosses. Your journey starts at the forest and goes through sewerage to find its (short-term) end at the evil snake’s castle. While running through the worlds Randy collect cheese – the games currency – with which you can buy many new helpful items for your journey. There is a well balanced shop system with cool permanent items and upgrades as well as onetime items to help though single missions.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Safety In Numbers

Safety In Numbers

  • Goal: $1,000
  • Platforms: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

Safety In Numbers is what we’re describing as a “reverse tower defense” game. The objective is to actually let in the targets, but to control the flow so traffic doesn’t back up at the gate and send everyone into a panicked state.

This is our fifth game together (the others can be seen here: betterbuggames.com/games). They’re all rough around the edges, but every single time we are getting better at making and polishing them. This game is shaping up to be the best one yet.

We’re doing two versions of the game. One is a basic version with the rules, some tutorials, and some standard levels. The premium version of the game comes with a level editor and the ability to export and import levels. As the community around this grows, so will the number of custom levels! Even up into the thousands! The export function also has a unique twist: it is formatted as a tweet, ready made to send out to all your friends! We’ll be posting our favorite levels on our website so the best ones get the recognition they deserve. Make a crazy fun level? Share it with the world on Twitter and see it played by potentially thousands of people!

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Tic Toc

Tic Toc

  • Goal: $15,000 AUD
  • Platform: PC

From the Kickstarter page:

Ever played a game and thought, “this assault rifle wielding mercenary would be so much cooler if he was SLAYING ROBOTS while FLEEING DINOSAURS in a MECH.”

Are you sick of lying awake at night wondering why no-one has released a game where you can go BACK IN TIME, SAVE THE DINOSAURS, and then RECEIVE QUESTS FROM THEM in the future?

We can help. In Tic Toc, time is YOUR sandbox. Want to give a CAVEMAN an ASSAULT RIFLE just for fun? It’s up to you – but you will have to live with (or die by) your consequences.

Tic Toc gives you complete control of time through an interactive timeline where everything can change in a heartbeat. Taking the best elements from games like Spelunky, Populous and Scribblenauts, the Tic Toc experience is unlike any you have played before.

Every action you take impacts everything that happens in the future. Your time travel watch lets you go to the future and back again to witness the consequences of your actions, potentially offering great rewards.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Turnover

Turnover

  • Goal: $800
  • Platforms: Windows, Linux

From the Kickstarter page:

You are attempting to escape a building that has been taken over by a private security firm in an attempt to influence a takeover bid. You guide Clea, floor by floor, to her freedom. Being an everyday office worker, you have to rely more on your patience and wits to sneak out, as opposed to any sort of combat skill.

A standard floor in Turnover is populated with soldiers and security systems meant to neutralize anyone trying to escape. The player will need to use cover, speed, and silence to their advantage.

You may need to memorize the routines of guards to decide the best time to slip past. You might find some means to distract them. Or, you might just encounter a barking guard dog that gives away your position…

On some floors, the player will need help from their coworkers to press on. You’ll sometimes need to shepherd a terrified IT worker to a locked security console so the security cameras can be shut off. You may also find and protect a security officer so he can help you drop a few bad guys.

There is more implemented, and even more planned for future, but this a good summary of the core aspects of Turnover.
