drakengard 3

The newest title in the Drakengard franchise (Drag-On Dragoon in Japan), Drakengard 3, got a debut trailer today showcasing some gameplay and some cinematic flair. Published by Square Enix, Drakengard 3 is being developed by Access Games, the creators of Deadly Premonition.

The debut trailer starts with a introduction to the back-story of Drakengard 3, detailing a world drenched in blood and war, and a religion that promises salvation. Later the trailer concentrates on the main character, Zero, a white-clad utautai (a being who manipulates magic through song) who looks to be in conflict with her sister, One. Drakengaurd 3′s debut trailer also gives us a peek at the title’s gameplay, as viewers are treated to seeing Zero frantically start tearing through armies of enemies in a typical action beat’em up style. There also looks to be segments where players will be taking control of Zero’s dragon buddy, as the enemy’s naval units find themselves getting bombarded with dragon fire.

The trailer also introduces the title’s theme song, “Kuroi Uta”, sung by vocalist Eir Aoi.

Here is the trailer for those who are interested.

Square Enix has also released the list of Japanese voice actors for the Drakengard 3 title as well.

  • Zero: Maaya Uchida
  • One: Rie Tanaka
  • Mihail: Nao Toyama
  • Dito: Mitsugi Saiga
  • Octa: Chafuurin
  • Decard: Kazuhiko Inoue
  • Cent: Ryotaro Okiayu

Drakengard 3 is an exclusive title for the PS3, and will be making its debut in Japan on October 31 later this year.
