The official Japanese Monster Hunter 4 website has updated with a number of new screenshots! Some show off the new volcanic area, but a lot depict some of the new monsters to be appearing in the game. So let’s take a look!

First we’ll take a look at a couple of the new areas. Most of these screenshots are in Monster Hunter 4’s equivalent of the Volcano, so make sure you pack your cool drinks! These new areas look really cool, and you can see the hunter climbing around the rocks in one of the images.

Next we have the mighty flying wyvern, the Gravios, which has been around since the  very first Monster Hunter.

And now we have a similar-looking wyvern that lives in a forested area, which is in fact the juvenile of the Gravios, the Basarios. The first image shows it shooting out posion.

This bird wyvern is known as the Iodrome, and is capable of both poisoning and pinning the hunter.

To end on an awesome note, here we have the elder dragon Teostra, making a return from the second generation of Monster Hunter games. It reminds me of a chimera, and I’m really looking forward to fighting it.

No Western release date has been announced yet, but Monster Hunter 4 will release in Japan on the 14th of September. Here’s hoping to a localisation announcement some time soon!

Im sorry but, that “bird wyvern” thats like a wroggi and shoots poison is an Iodrome, and its been in monster hunter since the first game. and the “chimera” is actually the elder dragon teostra. The big rock dragon is gravios.

Awesome, thanks. Now I’ll know for next time.

  • derp

sorry if im coming off a bit rude, if it seems like that i dont really mean it that way, i just am here to post the information i know, anyways, excited for this game

    • Herpa derp

I think you SHOULD be rude. The person writing the article has absolutely no idea what she’s talking about and has made no effort to even come off as if she had.

    • Herpaderpderp

Yeah, I agree. She does it nearly as much as you make it clear you have your head up your own anus.

Nintendo of America! Why have you not announced a localization for this game yet?

    • An Tran

Don’t ask Nintendo, you gotta ask Capcom.

  • An Tran

All these monsters are old, and the last one is an Elder Dragon. I wanted to post this earlier, but couldn’t do it on my phone. Looks like someone ended up beating me to it.

I played the first monster hunter when I was in kinder garden at that time so I pretty much was horrable but my older brother was the one who let me play it on his psp and I remember seeing lots of hard dragons when I watch my brother play because he was a lot better then me and of course he was a teen so he had more skills at getting better and I remember seeing him fight the gravios and to this day and im in 7th grade and still remember most dragons that he fought but there was 1 that I loved to watch just walking around when I went in free hunt or when a quest is unstable but I don’t know the name but it looked sorta like the diablos but there would always be 2 of them fighting each other and I remember I would love spying on both of them just for fun when I was little and I wanted to make a suggestion if you guys could add that because they were really hard yet even when my brother fought them and he would die sometimes. I also got another suggestion but I don’t remember the name of this dragon but I remember I was a electric type and from what I remember is he was just almost exactly like the Giginox that is also a cave monster and and I remember that the electric dragon im am describing was also a cave dragon to and he had almost the same moves to… Well that was both of my suggestion for putting some of the older dragons that I can remember to this day and thanks for reading.
