A meeting between Nintendo and its investors took place today, and a couple of very interesting things were revealed.

After the meeting, as it does after each one, Nintendo released a document detailing recent sales, sales projection, and future releases, complete with dates for all regions.

Notably absent from the last Nintendo briefing were Monolith Soft’s “X” and the unexpected crossover from Atlus and Intelligent Systems, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem.

Nintendo Briefing

We are happy to confirm that in the latest briefing which took place today, both of those games appeared underneath the “Wii U” column for both American and European regions. The release date still reads TBD, but hey, at least now we know they’re coming, as one of our owners assured us three months ago.

The Wonderful 101 has also been given a release date of this Summer for both regions as well.

Nintendo Briefing

I don’t know about all of you, but I’m excited for all of these games. Monolith’s new project is going to be a system-seller for me, and I’m a huge fan of the Fire Emblem series. The Wonderful 101 is from Platinum Games – what else could anyone ask for?

Is anyone else as excited for these as me?

  • Josh S.

SO excited! Especially for the Fire Emblem SMT crossover! Never doubted the top brass at oprainfall for a second 🙂 Never hurts to have a little confirmation, though.

  • Ryan_oprainfall

Not that I had any doubts….but… it’s still nice to see.

    • ^ THIS, times a hundred, haha.

    • Cautiously optimistic, but I didn’t have too many doubts either. Great to hear nonetheless.

  • Mr Voodoo Potato Head

Looks like I might not be waiting for Zelda after all…

  • Charlotte Buckingham

I wasn’t really concerned, but I know some were, and given NoA’s recent track record, that’s understandable.

I’m really looking forward to all three of these games. And now I’m stuck listening to the music on that godly trailer again, oh man…

    • Ryan_oprainfall

Think I’ll rewatch it as well. Been a while.

    • Charlotte Buckingham

I rewatch it every week or so. It’s so good!

    • Same. I hope we will get another trailer at e3.

    • InfernalDinosaur

Maybe it’ll be playable? It’d be so cool to see the game sometime next year.

    • It wouldn’t be totally shocking. “X” is probably what Monolith has been working on since Xenoblade Chronicles was released in Japan back in 2010. For as awesome as the game looks, I think they are taking a similar approach graphically to X that they did to Xenoblade, a minimal focus. And if NoA has figured out that this has a market, they might be translating the game while it is development, ensuring a somewhat simultaneous release. Of course, that’s all speculation.

    • Charlotte Buckingham

I hope it’s playable at PAX Aus; I’m going to be there.

  • I recall some gaming journalist, on Twitter, saying they wouldn’t be coming….. ha!

    • Who? I think we can say #itoldyouso now.

  • AnimeRemix

“Is anyone else as excited for these as me?”

Nope, not excited at all. …. Who am I kidding? Of course I’m excited! I had no doubt that both games were coming, but some extra proof does help. Anyways, SMT X FE is literally my system seller! While there is a few other Wii U games I want, I’m mainly getting the Wii U for SMT X FE! Love me some SMT and Fire Emblem, so the best of two worlds = AMAZING!

  • Considering these games were announced on a global Nintendo Direct, it would’ve been silly to think that they wouldn’t come. Both of these games are Day 1 purchases for me.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

and yet there were a lot of silly people. No doubt from a lack of trust because Nintendo held on to the OR games so long.

    • An Tran

Not just the OR games I believe. There were at least a few DS games that fans wanted that never came.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

      Good point

  • DigDugDude

I cant even imagine how depressing it would have been had these not made it over here.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

I think that would have effectively ended my consumer relationship with Nintendo. But alas, all is well because Nintendo is doing right by us.

  • bulletproof3DS

    😀

“Monolith’s new project is going to be a system-seller for me”

Yep – I know exactly what’s going to happen. This game is going to come out and I’m going to tell myself, “Come on, you know you’re only going to play this game and then never play anything else on the Wii U. Don’t buy the system.” And that’ll sound good for a week, maybe two… and then I’ll read all of these reviews about how this game is awesome and it’s the best game ever and I’ll see these YouTube videos of people rocking the monsters in the game. And you know what happens next – it’s a Wii U Premium package sitting in my living room.

Hey, at least I know they have a hold on me with this franchise!

    • InfernalDinosaur

The amount of time you’d end up putting into this game makes it more than worth it. It’s basically like the Elder Scrolls of JRPG’s IMO. So great.

  • air_dex

Very glad to hear something new about “X” / Xenoblade Chronicles 2. 🙂

“We are happy to confirm that in the latest briefing which took place today, both of those games appeared underneath the “Wii U” column for both American and European regions. The release date still reads TBD”

My 2 cents for the “X” release : before June 2014. Q4 2013 or Q1 2014 to be more precise.

  • I think we all rewatch it, I actually pause it every now and then as a reminder that it’s Shulk from Xenoblade (hint hint, hurray)!

  • These new games are just the kind of fleshing out the Wii U needs to attract more gamers–they’re certainly going to be a large part of the influence in my investment on the system. Keep it up, Nintendo!

  • Oh, I’m pretty excited for the upcoming Wii U releases, too! I wasn’t worried that NoA wouldn’t localize them. Nope, I was never worried one bit.

  • RagunaXL

well, Monolith’s Wii U title, Shin x Fire, and bravely default are all I wanted to see at E3 anyway. Past Nintendo Directs and this article, well OPRAINFALL articles in general, have taken care of that for me!
Definitely buying the Wii U for ‘X’… Game & Wario and Wonderful 101 might show up on the shelf as well.
