It was an interesting week for the Media Create sales charts. Animal Crossing : New Leaf sales have gone down a smidge, yet is still dominates the top 3, while Dragon Quest VII : Fighters of Eden saw a major drop off, nearly going down by 60%. Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance slashed its way to the top of the chart, beating Dragon Quest VII in the initial release week. Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros 2, meanwhile, keep inching closer to the 2 million sales mark, each looking to join the wildly popular Animal Crossing entry.

Console sales have seen more drops this week. Specifically, 3DS and PS3 sales remain the top 2, although both have seen an sizable decline, while Wii U sales have seen an incremental decline in overall sales. Vita sales have overtaken PSP, with Wii and XBox 360 sales hitting rock bottom. Otherwise, console sales remain pretty much the same as last week. Lets hope the infusion of new titles to the Wii U, as well as future announcements about the PS4 titles, will cause an upswell of activity.

  • I think we’ll start seeing the Wii U do better come March when it comes out of its game drought. Maybe not in Japan, but I bet it will improve noticeably in the West.

    • RicardJulianti

Japan is getting Dragon Quest X at the end of March. It’s going to explode.

They are also getting Game & Wario, but I really don’t know how well that franchise sells in Japan.

    • I’m really looking forward to Dragon Quest X. I’m really hoping that it gets localized and doesn’t take a long time. 6-8 months would be great, but more realistically, probably a year.

    • RicardJulianti

Nintendo claims to be working on localization all around more so than ever before. Straight from Iwata’s mouth, “We therefore plan to more actively support the Japanese software developers in distributing their key titles overseas this year. Among those third-party titles both developed and published in Japan, there have been some games which Nintendo published in Europe, including the Professor Layton series. We will increase the number of such games for the U.S. market as well as in Europe. We are also willing to flexibly assist third-party developers in distributing their valuable games overseas.”

      Iwata is awesome.

    • Oh, they are? I didn’t realize that, I’d thought it’d come out earlier. Yep, that should do it.

  • Gemnist

I’m kind of confused. Is the period in each number supposed to be a comma (for instance, the 3DS sold 74,729 and the 360 sold 473)? If so, this is the most pathetic sales chart I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. My advice people: get a Wii U. It will be worth every penny.

  • wii u will be fine.
