While this wasn’t really surprising, it was great to see this game show up at E3 nonetheless. As well as showing off a match between Kratos, SweetTooth, Sly Cooper, and the Fat Princess, Sony announced that PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale will be coming to the Vita and support cross-platform play. Not only that, but they showed off the two new characters that were leaked on Facebook; Nathan Drake from Uncharted and the Big Daddy from Bioshock. I’d say that I hope characters from Ratchet and Clank make it into this game, but if they have Parappa the Rapper and Fat Princess in this game, I’m pretty sure that’s a given at this point.

This game will be released later this year during the holiday season.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.

  • Nathan Drake was obvious. Big Daddy? Strange choice considering that’s not Sony’s property. Hell Bioshock started out as a 3rd Party game first. I know Nintendo has put 3rd party characters in Brawl but that was the 3rd installment of Smash. This is Sony’s first attempt at this thing. I can’t help but think it’s a little desperate.

    • More importantly, Bioshock started as a Microsoft exclusive. It was ported to the PS3 like a year later.

They said they’d have 3rd party characters a while agou, though, which seems a given since I don’t think they have enough franchises to make a substantial cast.

  • Hmmm, isn’t that what Smash Bros. 4 is gonna do? i.e. have connectivity between the handheld and console iterations.

We’ll just wait and see whether the different versions will differ from each other in ways, or not.

Either way, it sounds really cool! (even though I probably won’t get it, as I’m pretty much a Nintendo fag and don’t have any other kinds of systems. =P)

  • Sony isn’t even trying to have it look, or be, any different than the Smash Bros. series. Haha, I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, especially because the Smash Bros. games are awesome as hell.

Though, I don’t know if it’ll catch on quite like it did with Nintendo; with Nintendo, their cast of characters were built around long-established franchises and the formula was unique and addicting. This may suffer the same fate as ModNation Racers did.
