Originally a PlayStation 3 exclusive, during Nintendo’s last Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the HD version of Yakuza 1 & 2 (or Ryū ga Gotoku 1 & 2) would be released on the Nintendo eShop and at retail. Now, Sega has released the debut trailer and some new screenshots for the Wii U version. Both the trailer and screenshots show off the Wii U-specific features: off-TV play, and using the GamePad for looking at the game’s maps and the status screens. Check out the trailer and the screenshots below.
Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition was originally released on the PlayStation 3 in November of last year. The Wii U version will be released on August 8th of this year in Japan. Since this bit of news only appeared in the Japanese version of the Nintendo Direct, it can be assumed that there are currently no plans for localization. We can only hope Sega will release both the PlayStation 3 and Wii U versions Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition in the West in the near future, alongside Yakuza 5.
