Marvelous AQL held a livestream via niconico for their Senran Kagura series today. Amongst the announcements was one for a new entry in the series, Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson, which has been confirmed to be a direct sequel to Senran Kagura Burst. The game has also been confirmed to contain some male playable characters. One of these is Murasame, the elder brother of Ikaruga, pictured below. Kagura and Naraku have also been confirmed to be joining the character roster.
Senran Kagura 2 will be a side-scrolling action game whose boss fights will take place on a 3D plain. It include two multiplayer modes. Co-op mode will allow gamers to play locally, while Pair Battle allows gamers to fight using two characters.
There will also be a Nyuu Nyuu DX Pack. It will contain the game’s soundtrack, a drama CD and a figurine, all wrapped up in a limited edition box. In addition, all first-print copies of the game, LE or not, will include a soundtrack containing 4 CDs full of background music from each game in the series.
Senran Kagura 2 will be available for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on the 7th of August this year. It will cost Japanese gamers 6,998 yen.
While there no trailers have been officially released, we do have a couple of videos taken by those who were watching the stream. Check them out below:
The next game discussed was Senran Kagura: Estival Versus. It’s been confirmed that the game will be released for more than one Sony console; which ones, however, are anyone’s guess. It could be any combination of the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, or PlayStation Vita.
Estival Versus has been confirmed to have a connection to Shinovi Versus, a previous entry in the series. Not much else is known about the game.
Finally, we received word on the rhythm-based cooking game, Dekamori Senran Kagura for the PlayStation Vita. It will contain 22 songs over two sets. The first contains characters from the Hanzo Academy and the Homura Crimson Squad and will cost 2,400 yen. It is releasing March 20th. The second set will be out April 24th for 2,500 yen, and will contain chcracters from the Death Cram School and Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. Buying the two together will cost 4,083 yen.
Unfortunately, little is known about how the gameplay will work; the trailer embedded below is the game’s opening sequence.
