It’s a movie many have fond childhood memories of from years and years ago. Pokémon: The First Movie was first released in Japan back in 1998 before making its way across the globe during the height of the franchise’s worldwide popularity. If it’s been a while since you’ve seen Pokémon’s debut on the silver screen, or if you’re new to the scene and want a look at Pokémon history—and if you live in the United States—then you might want to clear your schedule this Saturday.
A digitally remastered version of Pokémon: The First Movie will air on Cartoon Network January 4th, 2014, bright and early at 8:30 AM EST. It wasn’t specifically stated if this showing of the film would also include the Origin of Mewtwo prologue or the Pikachu’s Vacation featurette, but regardless, this is a nice throwback for those of us who were there to see it when it was first released in theaters. Ah, memories. The fact that it has been digitally remastered is also promising for those who haven’t seen the movie for a good long while.
And if you’re going to be in an anime-watching mood this Saturday anyway, don’t forget to tune in to Space Dandy‘s world premiere later that same night on Toonami.
