As a follow up from recruiting Madhouse to produce animations, Atlus has released a 3-minute promotional video that showcases various animated sequences including character information with voice-over narrations. Thanks to animenewsnetwork for translating the text in the trailer, respective voice-actors roles are now readable for English-speakers.
Production credits for the animations in particular are still unknown, but they may be available once the game gets released, or even before then.
Here is the preview below:
From what was shown in the video, a highlander whom we refer to as The Hero (voiced by Kousuke Toriumi), is summoned by the Etrian Government to investigate a mysterious ruin when he encounters an amnesiac girl named Frederica (Mariya Ise), whose thousand year-old memories may be the key to the world’s salvation.
He would also encounter the ruin’s search team leader Simon Yorke (played by Daisuke Ono), who is dispatched by the Mizaguzaru Library, as well as young alchemist Arthur Charles (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) and the paladin Racoona Sheldon (Shizuka Itou).
The animations looked quite good for the short amount of time they were shown, and we ought to see plenty more footage, including an animated opening, from the final product. The artwork by Yuji Himukai translate well with the animations, as they are all on-model with the official character designs, and have kept the contrasting details between thick shadows and bright lighting.
Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden will be releasing in Japan this summer at June 27, with first-print copies including packaged-in soundtracks by Yuzo Koshiro, and an illustration by the game’s artist Yuji Himukai. There is no news for a Western release date yet, but stay tuned when it does.
