The newly released Bravely Default is off to a great start, as it absolutely dominates last week’s sales figures. I say this pretty much confirms a western release; all we have to do now is to wait for the inevitable announcement. Perhaps this will also give SquareEnix the courage to publish some more RPGs that aren’t Final Fantasy? Go creativity!
Also topping the charts are two other new crazy Japanese RPGs, Project X Zone and Tokitowa: Time and Eternity. While there already are plans for an English version of Tokitowa, so far the only real news of Project X Zone’s localisation has been from a Tekken producer incessantly pushing for such. Hopefully these positive sales numbers will give his nagging the extra oomph it needs for his (and our) pleas to be answered.
While this was a great week for 3DS sales (and owners), I am saddened to see the lack of PSVita games on the charts. In fact, this has been the worst week ever for the console sales wise. Hopefully we’ll see a turnabout with releases such as Persona 4 Golden and Playstation All Stars, as it would be nice to see more developers making games for that sweet piece of handheld hardware.
