Square Enix has finally announced a release date for their upcoming PlayStation 3 Kingdom Hearts compilation, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, on September 10 for North American territories. This HD remaster packages both Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories on one convenient disc.
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix was a Japan exclusive title and a rerelease of the original Kingdom Hearts with added content. This includes new cutscenes to flesh out the story, additional optional bosses, new abilities, new weapons, gameplay tweaks and two more difficulty levels. This will be the first time the title has come to US soil.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories is the PlayStation 2 port of the Game Boy Advance game Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories that came out back in 2008. Whereas the original was done with sprite art, Re:Chain was done with 3D character models and settings while keeping the mechanics intact. It also adds new cutscenes, new battles, and some added voice acting to a couple of scenes. Because Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be released in Europe, as well, this marks the first time Re:Chain hits European markets.
This compilation will also include video cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (pronounced Three Five Eight Days Over Two. Don’t ask). This DS interquel tells the story of Roxas during his days with Organization XIII.
As the HD in the title implies, everything has been upgraded to high-definition graphics. What did you think the HD stood for? Hot Doughnuts?
In addition, Square Enix is also offering a limited edition hard cover 24-page art book as a preorder bonus. See image below for a snippet:
