Famitsu has disclosed new screenshots for the upcoming Level 5 game Guild02, a compilation of original games followed by a dynamic collaboration between renowned game designers.
The previous title Guild01 saw games by Suda 51, Yoot Saito, Yasumi Matsuno, and Yoshiyuki Hirai. Only three of these titles were released in the West and are available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. You find our reviews of the Guild01 games by clicking on the following links: Liberation Maiden, Aero Porter, and Crimson Shroud.
For Guild02, Kaz Ayabe, Kazuya Asano, and Keiji Inafune of Megaman fame are currently at work designing each of their individual games for the following compilation. Unlike Guild01 where all three games were packaged in one cartridge, Guild02 will see separate releases on eShop like the Guild01 releases in the West.
This first image is from a title literally called The Monster That Comes Out Friday by Kaz Ayabe from Millennium Kitchen, who served as both designer and story director for a game called My Summer Vacation.
This Tokyo-based adventure game asks the question: “Why does a large monster make an appearance every week on Friday?” The game involves running around with friends, and it plays with dramatic effects such as the beating heart and freeing sensations kids feel, much like in anime when they see something weird/scary and freezes. The character chases after the mystery of the monster whilst also going around the remaining undeveloped natural woods, station and shopping district.
This game is slated to release on March 13, 2013 in Japan for 800 Yen.
This next image is from Worm Tank by Keiji Inafune. You play as a soldier who is shrunk to worm size along with his tank, and having to fight oncoming bugs. This game was developed with multiplayer in mind, which the ultimate experience is playing with a group of 4. To encourage this, there are only certain bosses you can battle in groups.
This game is slated to release on March 19th for 800 Yen.
These next two images are from No. Damrei Space Ship by Kazuya Asano, who was involved in previous titles such as Hypericum and The Adventures of Torneko. This is an adventure game where the player is in a state of memory loss, not knowing who or what they are, or what operation is taking place. The game’s supposed “complete state of innocence” may be conveyed by the player’s lack of knowledge for the game, and story’s emphasis on amnesia.
This one is slated to release on March 27th for 800 Yen.
Although there has not been a firm confirmation by Level 5 staff at the moment, there have been filed US trademarks that hint Guild02‘s Western release in the near future. Hopefully, there will be an announcement soon.
Thank you ever so much, Jodie Eevee Langford, for the translations.
